Lois Barker

Lois Barker

Lois Barker is a founder and Managing Director of Jean Elton Studio & Gallery, LLC. A mostly self-taught ceramic artist that has been working with clay for the past 30 years, Ms Barker studied briefly at the University of Hartford, CT.

"My work for Jean Elton focuses mostly on large vessels and bowls that while primarily are meant for decoration, nevertheless evoke warm feelings of home and hearth. My pieces tend to be large -- suitable for standing alone on a wall stand, and, while typically asymmetrical, simple in design. My Jean Elton pieces are fired at higher temperatures so the colors become muted and understated".

Alan C. Dodd

Alan C. Dodd
Designer, Jean Elton Studios

A potter since his college experience with Dr. David Crespi at Southern Connecticut State University, Alan Dodd taught pottery in both the classroom and numerous workshops for 37 years. During this time, Mr. Dodd also began to explore mobiles, some of which now decorate some of the finest homes and public spaces in upscale Southwestern CT, along with his pottery.

While he enjoyed the stimulus that the challenges of teaching offered, Dodd is thrilled to work uninterrupted by the familiar, “Hey, Mr. Dodd, come here, I need your help!” Now exploring the intersection of the tactile in terms of both pottery/mobiles as well as his Photoshop-inspired designs (the latter of which he also taught for several years), Dodd regards it an honor to work with the Jean Elton team.
